[11/2] Final Project: Initial Steps
For my final project, I got these three topics; Sound&Audacity, Play, and Drawing.
Among all the weekly assignments we did in this course, I personally found the assignment on sound & audacity the most difficult to complete. I have never had a chance to explore this area until I took this course. The whole process from recording to creating another sound didn't come with ease to me. So when I saw the word 'Sound & Audacity' on the dice, I was not very pleased with the result at first. But I figured that It would be a good chance to revisit my uncomfortableness with this specific subject and boost my weakest part. It will definitely something that would make me step out of my comfort zone.
To get some inspiration, I visited Tanya Bonakdar Gallery where Susan Philipsz currently exhibited her works last weekend. I don't have a clear idea of what I will do for the final project yet. But I was thinking about doing something with installation work that would involve some interaction.

[10/2] Takeaway from looking at each other’s coursework
I commented on:
- Danielle
- Madison
- Grace
- Ren
- Sarah
- Wanqiu
- Annie
In order to write feedbacks for classmates, I was sort of forced to look at my students' works very carefully. Through this action, I got inspired and admired by their artworks especially knowing that how short amount of time they were given to accomplish their projects. Though the purpose of this assignment was to give out feedbacks, it was an opportunity for me to take a closer look at the work of others and get inspired.

[10/1] Experience with Laser Cutting
[Final outcome]
Progress:
Quinta, my partner, first came up with an idea to create something that's Christmassy and holiday related. So we immediately agreed to make Christmas tree for our assignment since it will not only suite well with the holiday, but also it will be something three dimensional.
However, while working on Christmas tree with laser cut machine, we faced some trouble constructing the pieces together to make it stand stable and adequately. So we started a new design approach with a different way of making the tree to stand up. We finished our Christmas tree by decorating with the shapes of stars. To provide extra depth into our artwork, we added an ornament engraved with the image of Santa.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Initial Idea]
Quinta and I are still working on this art piece.
We are planning to add more patterns and ornaments to decorate the tree.

[9/2] My experience with SCRATCH and 2 connections to the (art) classroom
I created a virtual exhibition to present my work with SCRATCH program. I initially searched for existing works(coding)on themes that resembles gallery/museum that has shared by users on the scratch website. I found few finished works that reflect with what I had in my mind. So, i began my first step in creating creative coding by replicating (remix) it, and just played around with pre-existing code. During this process, I partially modified codings and images as well. But that didn't seem to work as I had a plan in my head and resulted in me with enormous frustration. I kept repeating myself going back to the original coder’s page and start over and over again. So in the end, I went back to start from scratch... I did a little doodling sketch on paper to make sure I stay simple and not adding unnecessary elements to avoid either collapsing and making a mess that I don't even know what I had done. So, i tried to make it simple as much as possible..... just to make it work.
I started working on my piece after I decided what I want to do in a class activity in art class. I want my potential art class students to use scratch as a medium to present their artworks creates in class. Students can create a narrative scene to explain their works for their final presentation how I did with SCRATCH . Also, it can be used as a showcase portfolio piece to hold all of their artworks together. In both ways, students will be able to learn basic coding creatively.
