[13/1] Final Project: Sound + Drawing + Play

Final

My project initially started with a question of what technology-infused art education is. As much as I enjoy seeing the emergence of new technologies in the creative field, I admire the originality of traditional art as well. I approached this project by taking these two questions in my mind. While I was working on a final project for this course, I wished to learn how to integrate digital making in a teaching setting and understand the role of art in education in this newly acknowledged change in education.

Process

Idea Sketch:

3D printing:
(Tinkercad)
The first thing that came across my mind when I saw 'drawing' on the dice was an object like a pencil. I used Tinkercad for sketching the 3D object which I needed as part of my final artwork.
To attach something on top of the object that I was creating, I needed to make a hole as shown below.
(Tinkercad)

(MakerBot)

(3D outcomes + Bells)

Laser Cutter:
(with wood)
I wanted to create an image that reflects playfulness as well as the movement of sound.
I also expected that various shapes and lines would create a different sound.

(Steel?)
I layered a texture underneath the drawing board I created in the hope of creating another type of sound when the bell attached to pencil goes across it.
